A Saturday Adventure

Saturday, the Petersons set off on an adventure. Daddy chose where we went, since we didn't get to celebrate his birthday properly when Mommy was off gallivanting in OKC. Anyhoo, we drove about 45 minutes East of here to check out the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. It's starting to really feel like Fall now. It's been pretty warm until lately. The leaves are starting to turn and it's really pretty. We enjoyed the ride. Sydney enjoyed saying, "Look! Itsa Rock!" Brenna enjoyed a nap.

Sydney really was fixated on the rocks. They ARE pretty impressive. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
You learn something new every day!

There were lots of displays of (stuffed) animals to look at. The wildlife refuge was founded to save buffalo and long horn cattle ...

Brenna hung out with Daddy while Mommy chased Sydney and took pictures.

Last, we checked out the gift shop. The most interesting items of note (although we didn't buy anything) were some cool butterfly finger puppets and an Oklahoma tornado in a jar!

After that we hit the road again for about 10 minutes and went to lunch at the famous Meers Restaurant and Store.

I guess it really is famous. They have lots of articles framed and hanging in the restaurant that feature their burgers. Their claim to fame is that they use meat from their own longhorns. If you go, make sure you don't go on Saturday. It was a loooooong wait.

and this was cute... they serve their drinks in wide mouth canning jars.

It was a quiet ride back, as both girls and their mom, fell asleep. Cory got to enjoy the pretty scenery alone...
(I think there was supposed to be a buffalo in this picture? We did see one!)

And that was our Saturday adventure! P.S. The food was so good we got BBQ to go and ate it that night for dinner!

This looks so fun! I want to go on a day trip instead of doing household junk! Love, Tanya

Yummmmmmmmmmmmy! We are big fans of the whole Meer's experience. You know it's in the book 1000 places to see before you die!
